The day had finally arrived! With a sense of anticipation, I touched down in Dublin for one of the most important moments in my career—the launch of my latest book, Tach Plays in Croke Park.
The experience kicked off with the renowned GAA Museum tour. From the moment we began, our guide had us enthralled with the rich history of the GAA and the legendary Croke Park. One of the highlights was seeing the breathtaking Waterford crystal football and sliotar chandeliers in the players’ lounge. The tour offered a journey from the iconic pitch to the historical memorabilia, making it both entertaining and deeply moving. If you haven’t experienced this tour yet, it’s a must-do when you next visit Croke Park with your children! Of course, I had to visit the Michael Cusack section of the museum, the very place where it all began.
The museum is brimming with treasures—from the famous cups to displays celebrating Ireland’s hurling heroes. The book launch itself was incredibly emotional. Tach had come home! Seeing Tach the Hurler come to life in the heart of Irish hurling was a moment I will never forget. A special thank you to Julianne, Aisling, and all the wonderful staff who made this day one of the most memorable of my life. Together, we hope to continue sharing the spirit of hurling far beyond the borders of Ireland. Before leaving, I made sure to sneak in some souvenir shopping—magnets and memorabilia filled my arms as I left the museum.
The GAA’s vision—‘Where We All Belong’—resonates deeply with me, as it aligns with The Wadi Tribe’s motto, ‘Where Everyone is Welcome’. I am hopeful that this shared vision marks the beginning of a meaningful relationship between The Wadi Tribe and GAA, with hurling at its heart.
Have you ever been to Croke Park or the GAA Museum? What’s your favorite memory? Share your thoughts with us!

We all know Colm McLoughlin, an Irish businessman, and the executive vice chairman and CEO of Dubai Duty Free, an airport retailer with a turnover of US$2.029 billion. It was wonderful to meet the man himself who, behind the big title is a bigger gentleman.
🐢 As I walked the corridors of the Dubai Duty Free (DDF), I stopped to see the historical photographic story of DDF and Colm. If DDF was a tree, then Colm is its deep roots.
🐢 Each photograph and award told a story that has made the DDF the giant it is today. I am sure the journey has had its challenges but what stood out for me, was no matter how hard the journey had been, it was walked with a warm smile and a strong handshake!
🐢 As I sat outside his office, I looked excitedly inside my bag which had the book ‘Tach plays in Croke Park’ and a Tach Hurley stick with a sliotar. Being the classic Irish gentleman he is, he came out to walk me into his office.
🐢The office was lit up with sunlight streaming through wall to wall windows and a cup of tea already on the table, the perfect Irish welcome! When the Hurley stick was presented to him, his face lit up like a kid and I had to capture it on camera. It is such a delight to share the moment with you all.
Here is to everyone who loves Hurling and to those who want to discover it.
🐢 All Tach merchandise including Tach books and Hurley sticks are available at Irish Village Garhoud and The Wadi Tribe website.

For me no storytelling session is complete without Tach the Hurler. If you were to tell me 2 weeks ago I‘d be talking about Tach and Hurling in Kathmandu, I would not have believed you. But one of the joys of following your hearts, is to grab every opportunity the universe throws your way and that’s exactly what happened here.
🐢Tach the Hurler, Hurling and the GAA were all introduced to both the schools, Snow Manjushree and Bal Sarathi. And in Urdu/Hindi language! A first for me! These kids who were orphans and underprivileged kids were spellbound by the wee little turtle.
🐢They had never heard of Hurling before, and the most common response was, “Is that hockey?” Well, hasn’t ground hockey originated in Hurling?
🐢The children wanted to know more about hurling. I’m not sure how they’ll manage to play on the edge of the mountain, but they haven’t lost a football yet, so these amazing children may surprise us all! And you never know, one day the universe may make a Hurling trip happen.
🐢Wouldn’t it be great to have hurlers travel there and teach the kids Hurling? And even better, on my next trip I will bring a few hurleys and sliotars. Sending all positive energy to make this happen!
🐢Do watch the video clip till the end and hear the children all try and say hurling and sliotar! I love it!
🐢There are numerous photos and videos attached to this article that I hope will serve as a window into their world!
🐢Please contact us if you would want to support these children by giving books or in any other way.
🐢Want to donate a Tach book? Link in bio.

Our journey to help the kids is long and healing at the same time. It wasn’t long after Snow Manjushree school that I visited another school, Bal Sarathi run by the amazing Dr Mala Kharel. The journey started over a cup of tea with Rekha Ghimire and Mala and within minutes all the people around the coffee table put their heads together and made the storytelling session happen!
The energy around the table was buzzing as Rekha led the conversation and explained about how many schools in the area would love and benefit from a storytelling session based around social and emotional learning. We decided to go to Mala’s school, Bal Sarathi, and she burst into a lovely gracious smile.
The school doesn’t have a projector or screen, something which I needed for my storytelling presentations, our hearts sank, knowing that the kids might not have the visit. But of course the ever resourceful Pranjal made one call and it was all sorted. And he arrived the next morning with a full tech solution. A big hug for him from the whole team.[/vc_column_text][us_btn label=”Donate a book” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thewaditribe.com%2Fshop%2Fdonate-a-book%2F|title:Donate%20a%20book!”][us_separator size=”small”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][us_image image=”11201″ size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][us_separator size=”small”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]The School: Bal Sarathi I had no idea what the school was like when the gracious Rekha drove us through the Kathmandu traffic to the school. She told us that the majority of the kids came from very poor families and begged on the streets before coming to school. And just like the other school, this would be the first time they would have had an author.
As I entered the building the lovely painting on the wall of rainbows and dinosaurs hid the cracks on the wall and the uneven floors. It was not your typical school building that we would see in more developed worlds but there was a great sense of home and protectiveness for the kids that overshadowed everything else.
An extract from the school: “Bal Sarathi, has come forward to deal with the problems of the disadvantaged children and their parents and provide them support, education, care, love and aims to contribute to realize the goal with the development and welfare of the children in Nepal. It’s a bitter future for children born into low-caste family status a bleeding , cultural wound that continues to haunt Nepal.
Balsarathi is making its efforts to those poor children since 2006. There were 6 children of beggars when the school was started and now over 125 students attend the classes six days a week and continue to benefit from nutritional lunches as well as free school uniforms , books , Bags and periodical medicine checkups.
Since the establishment of the organization, Bal Sarathi constantly committed for the improvement of the status of the disadvantaged and marginalized children and women and men by creating awareness, enhancing their skills and capacity, on various pertinent issues. To achieve the goal we are conducting vocational skills, health and promote gender equality and provide psycho-social support to the vulnerable group of the population.
Our organization has conducted literacy and health classes for the street and poor children. Over 125 children of 3-18 years of age are receiving the education and health care facility every day for 6 hours. Besides this, more than 25 students are getting support for their formal education in various schools with the scholarships and logistics support from the organization. Among them 7 children are sponsered by Sukrit Balbalika .These children are also taught to keep themselves neat and clean, and tidy and aware on health issues, and trained motivated to cultivate good habits and practicing healthy behavior. Free education materials and stationeries including transportation facilities, refreshments and mid day meal is providing daily by the organization.
Bal Sarathi’s activities based on Gaushala, Pashupati and Guheswhori area. Currently, organization supporting 125 children, providing quality education, hygienic food and stationeries.”[/vc_column_text][us_btn label=”Donate a book” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thewaditribe.com%2Fshop%2Fdonate-a-book%2F|title:Donate%20a%20book!”][us_separator size=”small”][vc_column_text]Storytelling Session As the kids, teachers and our team set up for the storytelling session, I looked around at the many faces smiling with excitement and curiosity. Some kids came over to look through the books, enthralled by the illustrations. And one could see millions of questions forming in their head.
A hush fell in the room as I started my first ever storytelling session in only Hindi/Urdu. I wasn’t sure if I could keep the same flow as I was so used to doing them in English. But to my surprise it flowed and flowed and we had such fun! The kids joined me in coming up with their own stories of lions and tigers! The light of ‘Imagination’ lit forever in their minds!
Giving back together. As always I wish I had more books, or sweets, colouring pencils or fresh juice to give everyone. But in its own time and with all your support this will happen, for now we were all content with what we had and left with amazing memories and friends for life!
There are numerous photos and videos attached to this article that I hope will serve as a window into their world! I had to put up the video of the adorable girl, using her imagination to create a wonderful story about a lion and a tiger who get together to eat biscuits!

My welcome to Kathmandu began with traditional-dressed immigration agents and distinctive Suzuki cars and taxis outside the airport.
The people’s friendliness was one of the first things that touched me. The city’s heartbeat seems to be social gatherings and community. The locals, made up of several clans such as the Newarai’s and Brahmin, greeted me with open arms. Along with the exquisite presents, I was introduced to a whole new cuisine, which I immediately fell in love with. Two things you must try: the indigenous drink tituari and the renowned MoMo! I’ve really been ‘MOMOtized’ forever!
The School: Snow Manjushree
So, why had I decided to visit Nepal? The main reason was to do one of my storytelling sessions in a monk-founded orphanage. When I founded The Wadi Tribe, one of my main charitable goals was to instill a love of reading in underprivileged children all across the world, with a special focus on orphans.
These sessions are similar to those I would do in any public or private school, with one-on-one attention given to each child. With the goal that the storytelling session may inspire a child’s ‘IMAGINATION’ and love for reading. We all know that imagination fosters innovation, which fosters economic progress. In such gatherings, there is always at least one spark. The response is always wonderful, whether it’s to read more books, become authors, or simply tell stories.
How do we make this happen? With YOUR support. When you all donate books through our website, the books will be shipped to orphanages for free. So, thank you for allowing the following story to transpire!
We walked up a steep slope with occasional steps. It was supposed to be a ten-minute hike up the hill, but it took me almost an hour. Every time I paused to catch my breath, children and elderly folks in their 70s and beyond walked by without breaking a sweat. As I struggled to climb the slope, which the locals climbed 10 times on average every day, they all gave me a sympathetic grin. I wasn’t even hauling 18 kg of donation books. The luggage was spirited up the hill by two lovely young lads.
Finally, we arrived at Lama Dhundup’s amazing school. With breathtaking views in the background, little kids formed a line and adorned us with the traditional Khatta. The greeting would be incomplete without mentioning Semo, the dog! A gentle giant who belonged to the school as much as the students. Dogs hold a unique role in Nepali culture. The street dogs are quite friendly and freely wander the streets. Some dogs even sleep on the street. Everyone here loves them and feeds them generously.
Lama Dhundup! We headed to a classroom for the storytelling session after another warm welcome from the entire school in an assembly. An open playing area, which was a strip of land on the edge of the mountain with amazing views, was crossed along the way. Children in groups playing a variety of activities, the most common of which being football. The entire school sat on a massive mountain ledge, although I refrained from calling it a mountain since everything seems like a hill when you’re so near to the Himalayas.
Earlier, I sat with Lama Dhundup, who told us about the school’s history. An incredible story that begins with what can only be described as an abundance of humanity! Lama Dhundup, a monk himself, founded the school with one goal in mind: to provide a holistic education to orphans and children who have been abandoned by their parents because of financial difficulties. Children learn Spanish and Chinese, among other languages, in addition to English and Hindi. The children pay close attention. Fundamentally in the school, there is a strong listening for the kids, who are hungry for knowledge. While the older students rearranged the furniture in a classroom, all 109 students sat on soft mats, eager to see what I had projected on the screen. It was the first time an author had visited their school, and the room went hushed as I began to speak about ‘Little fish.’ All eyes and ears were fixed on the presenter. I switched between English and Urdu, a first for me in a mixed-language storytelling session.
Oh, the joy we had as we all began singing the Little Fish’s fruity roll song. One of my favorite memories was hearing the youngsters sing “All for me.”
Tach the Hurler When I introduced Tach the hurler and the game of Hurling to the children, they were initially confused, but quickly became fascinated. They had never heard of Hurling before, and the most common response was, “Is that hockey?” Well, hasn’t ground hockey originated in Hurling? The children soon showed an interest in playing hurling in Nepal. I’m not sure how they’ll manage to play on the edge of the mountain, but they haven’t lost a football yet, so these amazing children may surprise us all! I’ll be doing another full blog on GAA and Tach the Hurler in Nepal after this.
Donate a book Although the children lacked ‘worldly’ possessions, they were all content and happy. However, the children are eager to study and discover more about the world. I left with a treasure trove of memories.
There are numerous photos and videos attached to this article that I hope will serve as a window into their world! Please contact us if you would want to support these children by giving books or in any other way.[/vc_column_text][us_btn label=”Donate a book” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thewaditribe.com%2Fshop%2Fdonate-a-book%2F|title:Donate%20a%20book!”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][us_image image=”11184″ size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][us_image image=”11185″][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_video link=”https://youtube.com/shorts/RiOhbxKtLI8?feature=share” overlay_image=”11184″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_custom_heading text=”Share the article” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][us_sharing providers=”email,facebook,twitter,linkedin,pinterest,whatsapp,reddit” type=”solid”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_custom_heading text=”Follow us” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner][us_separator size=”large”][us_socials items=”%5B%7B%22type%22%3A%22facebook%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22%23https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fthewaditribe%2F%3Fref%3Daymt_homepage_panel%26eid%3DARCfZo4LEe57mCz2RYcxJaLd-I7GyacNoPi58BRUM5vhHBO2B6qg_3_r9VY_Y9emCihRidOggn3EKM4C%22%2C%22icon%22%3A%22fab%7Capple%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22%23999%22%7D%2C%7B%22type%22%3A%22twitter%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Ftwitter.com%2FTheWadiTribe%22%2C%22icon%22%3A%22fab%7Capple%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22%23999%22%7D%2C%7B%22type%22%3A%22instagram%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fwww.instagram.com%2Fthewaditribetwt%2F%22%2C%22icon%22%3A%22fab%7Capple%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22%23999%22%7D%5D” style=”colored” gap=”3px”][vc_wp_posts number=”5″][vc_separator border_width=”3″][us_separator size=”small”][vc_column_text]Tach and the Cosanthor[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_facebook][vc_separator][vc_column_text]
Tach ag Imirt i bPáirc an Chrócaigh is the book of the month in Irish Independent! D’aois 4 agus níos sine
Téann Treibh Thréan na Wadi agus na Grogoch Fíochmhára in Adharca a Chéile!
Tá Tach agus a chairde ag imirt ar son Threibh an Wadi in aghaidh na Grogoch Fíochmhara, an chéad chluiche riamh i bPáirc an Chrócaigh!
Tá an dá fhoireann fíoraclaí ach tá na himreoirí i bhfad níos lú ar Threibh an Wadi!
Bhí an cóitseálaí Saltur ag iarraidh meon na foirne a chur san áit cheart, ach an dtabharfaidh sin an lámh in uachtar dóibh le buachán?
Tá Páirc an Chrócaigh lán go doras. Tá gach duine ag fanacht le féachaint ar an gcluiche mór, áit a mbeidh ceol na gcamán le cloisteáil!”
Tackling BIG emotions for kids through entertainment is the best form of education. Tach is an adorable wee little turtle that kids can learn from through edutainment! Tach was originally featured in a book for 6yrs plus, titled Tach and the Cosanthor. Based on its success and the demand to write for a younger age group, Tach plays in Croke Park was conceptualised. Why Croke Park? Where else would Tach play his first ever historic match? Croke Park is part of the cultural fabric of Irish games and of course it is the biggest stadium in the world where the ancient warrior sport of hurling is played! The response to Tach the hurler has been strong, with fans calling themselves The Wadians, who are the best fans in the world.

It was the fastest first draft I have ever written! Hurling is a true warrior sport and has its origins in the warrior codes of ancient Celtic history. By sheer coincidence the Hurling All-Stars came to UAE last November and we launched the book at a reception in their honour. I got to meet amazing players such as Kilkenny’s dynamo Richie Hogan, Wexford’s powerhouse Lee Chin and Antrim stalwart Neil McManus. I would love to see the bleachers full here with all nationalities in the future watching this amazing game. Little did I expect then that I would be in a position to gift a set of hurleys and sliotars to a local club, so it is with great honour I can do so, and I look forward to repeating this many times in many clubs as the book sells internationally.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][us_separator][us_image image=”9958″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][us_separator][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_custom_heading text=”Tach and the Cosanthor” use_theme_fonts=”yes” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thewaditribe.com%2Fshop%2Ftach-and-the-cosanthor%2F|title:Tach%20and%20the%20Cosanthor||”][vc_column_text]Tach the Hurler will be a series of 5 books for ages 4 to 7 years old. TWT has built up a very strong stock of media and eBooks, including the Chee and Dae series of books and the new Tach the Hurler series, plus a full suite of lessons for the ‘Back to School Students Emotional Wellbeing’ program. The books are imbued with the tenets of Social, Emotional Learning [SEL] delivered in a fun way through the age old medium of good storytelling.
Irish-Pakistani Author Saniya Chughtai, began writing her books whilst working in the gentle climes of the Sultanate of Oman almost a decade ago. Her first book ‘The Adventures of Chee and Dae in Majlis Jinn’ was released in both english and Arabic. More recently, her latest book about a hurling -playing turtle, ‘Tach and the Cosanthor’, was launched in 2019 by the Irish Ambassador to UAE, Aidan Cronin, in the presence of the Irish Hurling All-Stars. This partnership is the latest milestone in the growth of TWT beyond the Middle East and sees the rising popularity of the books particularly in the United States, where Saniya recently won a readers award.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Saniya Chughtai announces a global collaboration with Bookwire” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Saniya Chughtai, Founder & CEO of The Wadi Tribe

Thanks to the keen eye of International Publishing Consultant Claudia Gehre media consultant from Berlin for spotting us, TWT is now entering a collaboration with Bookwire to add to their suite of eBooks which are promoted globally. This program encases the best practices of Social Emotional Learning and delivers a coherent series of modules which help our children reintegrate back into their schools. Many children will have experienced stress during the last few months and delayed reactions to long periods of isolation from their friends and wider family. Simply returning to school and re-engaging in their traditional subjects simply won’t work if the children are not emotionally at ease. The Wellbeing program allows the children to tell their story through character association, games and activities. The program leverages the principles of the Harvard social and emotional learning skill sets and the CASEL competencies. It is delivered in a fun and engaging way through The Wadi Tribe characters.
The outcome is a settled and calm environment where children feel safe and unstressed. TWT characters guide the children in making sense of what is happening across our planet and inculcate a sense of hope and confidence – in essence it creates the ideal environment for the teachers to teach and the children to learn. We are very proud of what TWT has created.” [/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][us_image image=”9735″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][us_separator][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_custom_heading text=”Jasmit Kang, Head of Primary School at Capital School, Dubai” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]“When our students return for their first term they will have had nearly six months away from the school which is a very long time. They will have had a myriad of varied experiences during the pandemic, both positive and negative. We want to create a welcoming environment where they will have space to express their feelings and to be heard. To this end we have partnered with The Wadi Tribe to deliver our Back to School COVID-19 Wellbeing Program to ease their emotional transition back to school.
This program has components for the students to help them prepare before they return to school and components to ease the reintegration into school life and to understand what is new or has changed. Social and emotional learning will need to be a vital part of the curriculum at this time and so this is a new and exciting step forward for our school. I am really looking forward to seeing the children return to a physical environment with their friends and teachers after a lengthy period of mostly digital interaction and to resume a level of normality. School is a wonderful place for learning but more importantly a happy and safe environment where children interact socially, this is what I have missed the most.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][us_image image=”9736″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_custom_heading text=”TWT Launches Global Student Wellbeing Program with Capital School, Dubai” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]Capital School Leads the Way in UAE by Adopting TWT ‘Back to School COVID-19 Wellbeing Program’ for their Students and Teachers

The kinds of skills that SEL addresses, such as problem-solving and collaboration, are increasingly necessary for the labour market. According to one estimate, 65% of children entering grade school will ultimately work in jobs that don’t exist today, putting creativity, initiative and adaptability at a premium. Another study shows that jobs are increasingly social-skills-intensive. SEL will prepare today’s students for this evolving workplace, with consequent benefits for individuals, businesses, the economy and society. SEL confers academic success as well. A meta-analysis of 213 studies showed that students who received SEL instruction had achievement scores that averaged 11 percentile points higher than those who did not. And SEL potentially leads to long-term benefits such as higher rates of employment and educational attainment. These valuable social and emotional skills can be developed at any point in a child’s life, although it can be highly effective to introduce SEL early and embed it in the core curriculum throughout a child’s schooling. Research suggests that early childhood is a critical period for attaining important skills – and also that augmenting such early learning at later ages is necessary, complementary and effective. Social and emotional skills can be taught in classrooms or at home but SEL is most potent if developed in both settings.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Need more information? And they belonged to the same family, covering there generations.

Abu Abali is a small costal village with a population of about 5000 people, 95.6% of the population being local. Around sunset you can see families playing the ancient traditional mancala game Hawalis on the beaches. Hawalis boards in Oman are composed by 4 rows of 7 holes. At game setup, two seeds are placed in each hole. Each player owns half of the board (2 rows) of the board.
